Imatinib is the key ingredient of Imanib which is a small molecule kinase inhibitor and used for the treatment of multiple types of cancer. This drug is been approved as a treatment for Philadelphia chromosome both in adult and children. Types of cancer cured by imatinib are Leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, gastrointestinal stromal tumors and myelodysplastic. This slow down the growth process of cancer cells and reduces the size of it which helps in further development of cancer cells.

There are some side effects of imatinib like other drugs are low blood count, Nausea and vomiting, edema, muscle cramp and bone pain, diarrhea, skin rash, etc. Dosage of this drugs should not be increased till your doctor doesn't allows you and try not to take over dose if any dose is missed.
